From the Edge of extinction

World Environment Day (‘WED’) is celebrated every year on 5 June to raise global awareness. It is an annual event that is aimed at being the biggest and most widely celebrated global day for positive environmental action. This year, Sustainability Initiatives in collaboration with Bhoomi aimed to put forth the issue of declining population of the Great Indian Bustard and its conservation.
Dr. Pramod Patil, a conservationist and “Vasundhara Sanman” Award winner was the guest for this event. The program included Audio-Visual Presentation of some of the old and recent footage of Great Indian Bustard and Dr. Patil who is an awarded conservationist and member of Bustard Conservation Task Force shared information about the species, reasons for its decline, the conservation strategies and how we as citizens can contribute to the conservation efforts.
