SI_Covid Centre contribution

A 120 bedded Covid Care Facility Rapid Relief Center was setup by Anesthesia Associates with Sustainability Initiatives at Ganesh Kala Krida Centre which is a famous Sports and Cultural auditorium in Pune, India. This space was allotted by Pune Municipal Corporation, the Mayor’s Office, along with installation of additional toilet facilities and laying of the required oxygen supply lines. Two more organisations namely, Aloha Lifestyle Centre, Pune & Kapila Naari, Pune were also a part of this initiative who took care of providing experts, doctors and required medical staff for the center.

Sakal Relief Fund played a major role in providing uninterrupted funding for the day to day working of the Rapid Relief Centre.

This facility was set up on 15 April 2021 during the peak of COVID cases just within 8 days. The Center has all the medical equipment including oxygen beds with ventilators, testing lab and X-Ray facilities in house. Good home cooked meals and sanitation facilities along with free treatment and counseling support were provided to the patients throughout their quarantine period. This highly functional and very timely installation has proved to be an Urban social example of what can be achieved in testing times. It was a free of cost Health facility serving the neglected class of the society and has been extremely effective for Pune City. Jnana Prabodhini provided volunteers 24/7 required for the day-to-day operational functionality.

Sustainability Initiatives involvement was for fundraising with the first donation of Rs. 5 lakhs made by Ar. Vishwas Kulkarni, (founder of VK Group) – a parent organisation of Sustainability Initiatives. These funds were utilized for purchasing software, IT infra and medical equipment.

Dr. Rituparna Shinde (Founder of Aloha Lifestyle Centre, Pune) & Dr. Ashwini Joshi (founder of Kapila Naari, Pune) along with Apoorva Kulkarni (Managing Trustee of Sustainability Initiatives) were instrumental in the successful collaboration for this project.

This consortium with addition to their individual strengths could establish a facility for the economically weaker section where fast yet specialised treatment free of cost could be provided only because of the huge support from the local Government, PMC.

Till date this center has treated more than 500 patients and will continue to serve till the Covid battle ends.
