
Sustainability Initiatives organised Ex - Country Training on Green and Energy Efficient Construction Technologies for Ministry of works and Human Settlement, Royal Govt. Of Bhutan.The training organised on 9 May to 11 May 2016.

Sustainability Initiatives celebrated World Environment Day on the 6th of June 2016. Three activities were planned for the day, on the lines of Create, Contribute and Participate.

VK GROUPS were asked to switch off Lights, Fans, AC, Mobile Charger, Printers, Plotters and any other electronic gadgets including the coffee machines in the office and we also shut the Elevators from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. To celebrate the EARTH HOUR!

Book launches in 2017 have made this year truly memorable for Sustainability Initiatives. Saturday evening (23rd December 2017) at SI (Sustainability Initiatives) office, SI team along with VK:e environmental had the privilege of hosting Dr. Prasad Modak of Environmental Management Centre to celebrate the launch of the book Environmental Management towards Sustainability, authored by him.

Jeevitnadi-Living River Foundation in association with Sustainability Initiatives, Pune oraganised a 'Conceptual Design Competition for Pune Riverfront'. It was one of the activities planned for 'Muthai 2016' a weeklong event which was organised to celebrate ' India River Day' which was on 28th November.

Sustainability Initiatives, Pune started a mobile library for the children of the deprived schools through the Prarthna Foundation Solapur.
Today, many children are seen begging on the streets after leaving education, some children are not able to get education because they don't get proper guidance, some children migrate with their parents to fill their stomachs, they leave education and wander, they put lizards on things....

A 120 bedded Covid Care Facility Rapid Relief Center was setup by Anesthesia Associates with Sustainability Initiatives at Ganesh Kala Krida Centre which is a famous Sports and Cultural auditorium in Pune, India. This space was allotted by Pune Municipal Corporation, the Mayor’s Office, along with installation of additional toilet facilities and laying of the required oxygen supply lines. Two more organisations namely, Aloha Lifestyle Centre, Pune & Kapila Naari, Pune were also a part of this initiative who took care of providing experts, doctors and required medical staff for the center.

As the city of Pune is growing rapidly, it needs to adapt to the extremes of climate change, increased energy consumption, loss of greenery/ biodiversity, amenity space and contribute to healthy living. Energy consumption in buildings is dependent on envelope design. More barren roofs and exposed concrete surfaces leads to more heat gain in buildings resulting in an urban heat Island effecting the micro climate of the place resulting in increased temperatures.

Sustainability Initiatives, VK:a architecture and VK:e environmental team developed an Earth Centric Unit referred as"Earth centre" through research. Earth Centre prototype was created with a vision to perform valuable environmental and public service as a de-centralized solid waste management facility with a window of opportunity to engage citizens in the responsibility of garbage management.

Sustainability Initiatives successfully conducted our first International Training on ‘Urban Renewal and The Future of Cities’ in December 2018. This training was conducted for Officers / Town Planners of the Department of Town Planning and Valuation of Government of Maharashtra.
